First thing to do is searching for references. Here I have decided that the story took place in Central Bank of London, in a rotunda room at the center of it, so I tried my best to figure out what it looked like during its time in the 1930s.
Next are line sketches. It showed the scene from different POV. I went with the first since it had a wider shot.

And the finished painting. I decided to go with a peaceful morning scenario, since it feels like there is no threat left, yet in it serenity we can see that there is nothing left but the ruin itself, reclaimed by mother nature.
